Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Seasonal Social Services Assistant to support Christmas Assistance programs such as Angel Tree and Adopt A Family. The role focuses on compassionate service, client intake, and coordination with volunteers and donors.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. A high school diploma, dependable nature, and willingness to complete training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Social services experience preferred.
• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet The Salvation Army’s driving requirements.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Ability to complete Safe From Harm and CPR training within the required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Christmas Assistance applications.
• Review documentation and enter information accurately.
• Help coordinate Angel Tree donations and volunteers.
• Communicate warmly and professionally with clients, donors, and community partners.
• Pick up, unload, organize, and sort donated items.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and program information.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
