Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking reliable individuals to ring the bell this Christmas season at various locations in Connecticut or Rhode Island. You will represent the organization, greet the public warmly, and ensure the Kettle is attended at all times during shifts from after Thanksgiving to just before Christmas.

Your efforts support feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and helping the sick and lonely during the holidays. Training and guidelines will be provided.

Qualifications

• Must be friendly, welcoming and able to greet the public professionally.
• Ability to arrive on time and complete a timecard accurately.
• Must be able to stand in one location outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to guidelines for staff responsibilities.
• Arrive on time and accurately complete a timecard.
• Be familiar with The Salvation Army's community work to address common questions.
• Be neat, well-groomed and dressed to The Salvation Army standards.
• Wear clothing suitable for cold outdoor conditions.
• Do not eat, text, read, wear headphones, or smoke near the kettle.
• Greet every passerby in a friendly and respectful manner while ringing the bell.
• Keep the kettle area tidy and never leave it unattended.
• Smile, make eye contact and be courteous.
• Stand by the kettle at all times; avoid sitting or slouching.
