YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. in Savannah, GA is seeking a Part-Time Group Leader for Habersham YMCA.

You will supervise a group of children Pre-K to 8th grade, guide activities, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment during school district days off and daily programs. Responsibilities include planning activities, completing required trainings, updating attendance, and communicating with parents while upholding the YMCA four pillars: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Ability to supervise a group of 25 children.
• CPR and First Aid certification to be completed within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during activities according to YMCA standards.
• Plan, implement and participate in scheduled activities.
• Complete required documentation and training.
• Interact with parents and keep them informed.
• Ensure children have a safe and fun experience.
• Maintain cleanliness of toys, equipment and room after shifts.
• Record attendance and report pertinent information to parents.
• Support YMCA membership retention and fundraising efforts.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: Habersham YMCA - Savannah, GA 31405, Position Type: Part Time, Job Category: Day Camp, POSITION SUMMARY:

Group Leaders are responsible for supervising children while conducting educational, cultural, and recreational activities for children from grades Pre-K-8. Daily functions include leading a group of assigned children through a scheduled plan of activities while providing a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• To supervise and interact appropriately with all children in the program according to prescribed YMCA standards during school district days off at the branch
• To plan, implement and participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to sports, games, crafts, etc.
• To complete all required documentation and training for the program
• To interact appropriately with all parents of program participants
• Ensure that all children have a safe and fun experience
• Provide general cleaning of toys, equipment, and room after every shift
• Accurately record attendance of children and report to parents’ pertinent information
• Reporting of safety issues, attendance numbers and general needs of the programs
• Preventing incidents of child abuse, identifying incidents of abuse, and reacting properly when they occur
• Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
• Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Foster positive staff, parent, and child relations.
• Ability to supervise a group of 25 children in a safe and friendly manner.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment and complete all other required 90 day trainings.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
