Job Description

Drive forklift trucks equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, fork‑grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move raw paper materials and in‑process products, finished products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory. May move materials and equipment using an overhead rail crane, or operate a rail car mover such as a track‑mobile. May load and unload semi‑trailer trucks. Maintain accurate inventory, report discrepancies, and perform safety checks on lifts. Perform routine maintenance such as lubricating trucks, recharging batteries, filling fuel tanks, or replacing liquefied‑gas tanks. Responsible for inventory control, tracking, and reporting using a materials management system. May organize and assign storage space utilized in warehousing and move materials in the departments.

• Operates equipment to move finished product for shipping or storage
• Supplies Manufacturing Department with materials as needed
• Stages product to be moved or shipped
• Racks unused supplies and maintains an inventory of type, amount, and location of items
• Transports and processes manufacturing paper by‑products
• Empties trash hoppers and performs other housekeeping duties as needed
• Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported
• Includes battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging, and replacing batteries of electrical leads and battery poles and lubricating truck's moving parts
• May include changing LP/Propane
• Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures, including the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock‑out‑tag‑out rules, and hearing and eye protection policies
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
• Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members

Qualifications

• Must know how high, wide, and long the forklift truck and its load are, and how much the forklift truck can lift
• Can determine required dimensions for driving the forklift truck and its load within doorways and aisles, and for placing loads on shelves or bins
• Knowledgeable of the storage area layout to find and place items without detailed instructions
• Skilled in maneuvering forklift trucks in tight spaces and performing precise load handling
• Possesses greater knowledge and skill than Hoist Operator 1 in operating controls for driving forklift and/or clamp trucks
• Can recognize whether the forklift truck can lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced

Additional Information

The rate of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $17.75 / hour. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate, the total compensation package may include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and/or stand‑by pay.
