Job summary

Hoar Construction is seeking a dependable on-site worker to support hoist operations at multiple Galveston sites. You will perform daily safety inspections, distribute Walkie Talkies for clear site communication, and assist with access control and door/plate placement to bridge gaps between hoist floors and slabs.

The role requires basic physical duties, a High School diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Strong reading, written and verbal communication in English; Spanish helpful but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the hoist and complete the safety checklist daily on all floors before operation.
  • Distribute Walkie Talkies to each level to aid communication between the operator and workers.
  • Open/close doors for access and place the plate to span the gap between hoist floor and building slab.
  • Perform weekly maintenance on the hoist; lockout/tagout required during this process.
  • Maintain clear access from the hoist ramp to dumpsters and keep the area free of debris.
  • Inspect and maintain handrails, overhead protection, and exterior perimeter fence daily.
  • Lock out power to the hoist at the end of the shift.
  • Collect Walkie Talkies and charge them for the next day.

Job description

Responsibilities:


  • Inspect the hoist, perform the safety check list on all floors daily prior to operation.

  • Distribute Walkie Talkies to each level to aid in communication between the operator and workers.

  • Open and close doors for access and egress; place the plate on the floor too span the gap between the hoist floor and the building slab.

  • Weekly maintenance on the hoist; lock out tag out of the unit will be required during this process.

  • Maintain the clear access from the hoist ramp to the dumpsters. Keep area clean of misc. debris.

  • Maintain and inspect the handrails on the bottom platform, the overhead protection, and the exterior fence on the perimeter daily.

  • Lock out the power to the hoist at the end of the shift.

  • Gather up Walkie Talkies at the end of the shift and place in charging station so they will be ready for operation the next day.


Requirements:


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required

  • Valid Driver's License
