Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Clinton, NC is seeking a Hog Loader to join our animal handling team.

You will work with loaders to sort and drive finishing animals from pens to trucks, ensuring animal welfare and proper handling in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include sorting and loading animals safely, using a herd board, counting loads, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment while complying with Environmental, Biosecurity and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to do hard physical labor and stand/walk for long periods.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts and loads animals in a productive, SAFE and efficient manner.
  • Uses herding board to move animals from pen to aisle.
  • Counts animals onto truck.
  • Maintains cleanliness of crew vehicles and equipment.
  • Respects growers' property and equipment.
  • Presents good company image.
  • Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process and reviews that policy at their work site.
  • Complies with Smithfield PPE policies.
  • Assists in training other loading employees as required.

Your Opportunity Compensation: $14.49/hour

The Hog Loader works with other loaders to sort out and drive finishing animals from pens to truck, with special concern for animal welfare and proper handling.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sorts and loads animals in a productive, SAFE and efficient manner.
  • Uses herding board to move animals from pen to aisle.
  • Counts animals onto truck.
  • Maintains cleanliness of crew vehicles and equipment.
  • Respects growers' property and equipment.
  • Presents good company image.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with company Environmental, Biosecurity and safety policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.
  • Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process and reviews that policy at their work site.
  • Complies with Smithfield PPE policies.
  • Assists in training other loading employees as required.
Qualifications

  • Previous livestock handing helpful.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to do hard physical labor.
  • Strong Commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to use loading equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work day or night shifts.
  • Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high quality pork products.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
