Job description

We are seeking an experienced CPA with a strong background in high-net-worth taxation, complex investment structures, and advanced tax planning. The ideal candidate has experience working with sophisticated individual clients, investment entities, private equity and hedge fund investments, real estate partnerships, trusts, and other complex tax matters.

This individual will serve as a technical resource for clients and internal teams, providing strategic tax guidance, reviewing complex filings, researching unique tax issues, and developing solutions for challenging client situations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building client relationships, mentoring others, sharing technical knowledge, and taking an active role in the continued growth and success of a firm.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee complex tax compliance engagements while ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Review and provide technical guidance on complex individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, trust, estate, and investment-related tax returns.
  • Deliver comprehensive tax planning and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals, families, and related entities.
  • Analyze complex investment portfolios, including investment partnerships, hedge funds, private equity investments, real estate entities, and other pass-through structures.
  • Research and interpret complex tax regulations to develop practical solutions and recommendations for clients.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients and firm leadership regarding engagement progress, opportunities, and potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding financial goals and providing customized tax strategies.
  • Coordinate engagement timelines, staffing, budgets, and overall project execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and client service delivery.
  • Mentor and support Associates and Senior Associates through coaching, technical guidance, and professional development.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for complex tax matters and share knowledge with team members.
  • Assist with business development initiatives, including proposals, networking, and client relationship expansion.
  • Contribute to industry knowledge through technical research, written content, and internal education.
Required Skills & Experience
  • CPA license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting tax experience with a focus on high-net-worth individuals, complex tax engagements, and advisory services.
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, including individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, trust, estate, and other business entity filings.
  • Extensive experience reviewing complex individual tax returns involving multiple income sources, investments, pass-through entities, and advanced tax planning considerations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of investment-related tax matters, including complex Form 1099 reporting, hedge fund and private equity Schedule K-1s, and investment partnership taxation.
  • Experience with trust taxation, family wealth planning strategies, and related entity structures preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance, tax planning, tax research, and advisory services.
  • Ability to research complex tax issues and provide practical recommendations to clients.
  • Proficiency with tax software systems, preferably CCH Axcess Tax and Engagement or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience developing and reviewing complex tax workpapers, analyses, and financial summaries.
  • Ability to analyze accounting records, adjusting journal entries, and understand their impact on tax reporting and client tax positions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and team members.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring and developing Associates and Senior Associates.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities and priorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, families, investment entities, and complex tax structures.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly and effectively.
