Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to oversee the custodial operations at Hamilton Middle School. The Head Custodian will be responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for all staff and visitors. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively. The ideal candidate will have a background in custodial services and a commitment to excellence in facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff, ensuring efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of all areas.
  2. Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  3. Train and mentor custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and equipment usage.
  4. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
  5. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering as necessary to maintain adequate stock levels.
  6. Address and resolve any custodial-related issues or concerns from staff and visitors in a timely manner.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules around events and activities.
  8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the custodial team.
  9. Perform hands-on cleaning duties as needed, including floor care, restroom sanitation, and waste disposal.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in facility management or custodial services is a plus.
  2. Strong knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  3. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.
  7. Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
  8. Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  9. Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check as required per school board policy.
