Job summary

HMG is seeking a qualified Rigger in Silverdale, WA to safely move and install heavy equipment using rigging systems. The role requires NCCER/NCCCO certification, forklift cert, and crane experience. You will coordinate with teams, direct crane operators, and ensure all gear is inspected and certified prior to use.

Experience with various cranes and rigging components is essential. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with competitive hourly compensation and potential for additional duties

Qualifications

Job description

HMG – Rigger Location: Silverdale, Washington (Bangor) Type: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Full-time Compensation: $38.76-$38.76 per hour

The Rigger safely moves, lifts, and installs heavy equipment or materials using Lifting and Handling tools such as wire ropes, cranes, forklifts and chainfalls. They plan and set up rigging systems, attach loads securely, and coordinate with teams to ensure everything is moved safely and efficiently.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plant or shipyard, select wire ropes, synthetic slings, chainfalls, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Give directions to Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or radio.
• Rigging lift duties include maintenance on cranes, re-wiring cranes, and pouring sockets in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Splices synthetic or natural fiber rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
• Attach load with rigging gear such as slings, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook.
• Give directions to Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone.
• May direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment.
• Work with Test Team to test and certify cranes.
• Use forklifts to move material.
• Setup, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches, splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle, and may direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment.
• Test and certify rigging gear and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Ensure equipment being used is certified, appropriate for the application, and inspected prior to use.
• This position may be subject to call-back availability based on operational needs.
• All Other Duties/Projects as Assigned.

Qualifications:

• Applicable Rigger training and certificate from NCCER, NCCCO, or from approved 3rd party certification body, required.
• Forklift certification required.
• At least 3 years of experience in cranes.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide, and multiply.
• Ability to perform metric conversions.
• Understanding of rigging components such as shackles, wire rope slings, block and tackle, come-a-longs, and air tuggers, including their capacities and proper use.
• Familiar with crane signals.
• Knowledge of different crane operations, such as mobile cranes, bridge cranes and jib cranes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Requirements:

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain all applicable federal security clearances.
• Required drug screening, physical, and background check.
• A valid state driver license is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by HMG’s insurance company.
