Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center in Iowa is seeking a Customer Service Specialist HME to support patients and referrals in obtaining medical equipment. You will assist with intake, verify benefits, and help patients choose items like diabetic shoes, walkers, and compression stockings.

You will also learn the diabetic shoe fitting process, demonstrate equipment, document education, and ensure regulatory requirements are met while collaborating with care teams in a fast-paced, on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Willing to learn diabetic shoe fitting.
• Valid IA driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
• Proficient in basic math and data entry.
• Ability to communicate with patients and referrals.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers, referral sources, and hospital departments in obtaining medical equipment.
• Fit patients with products such as diabetic shoes, compression stockings, walkers, and nebulizers.
• Verify insurance and assist with intake processes.
• Describe and educate on HME items, setup, delivery, and maintenance.
• Document safety and use education; communicate patient needs to care team.
