Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking an HLS Software Systems Engineer III for Lunar Permanence to shape the software and systems across lunar missions. You will collaborate with systems engineers, developers, and program managers to define autonomy behaviors and software requirements, while guiding best practices in software systems engineering.

• B.S. or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years professional experience minimum.
• Experience in developing software requirements, verification plans, and test cases.
• Experience working across systems and software disciplines, leading cross functional groups.
• Experience in spacecraft design and operations.
• Experience with fault management design.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

HLS Software Systems Engineer III – Lunar Permanence

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will work with other software development engineers and other discipline teams to define the systems and software across our Lunar programs. The systems and software will directly have an impact on the missions planned. Software is the heart of space vehicle development so your ability to collaborate with other discipline teams effectively will be an important aspect of this role. You will also have long term vision and strategy for the products to truly sustain lunar missions. Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.


• 5 years professional experience minimum.


• Experience in developing software requirements, verification plans, and test cases.


• Experience working across systems and software disciplines, leading cross functional groups.


• Experience in spacecraft design and operations.


• Experience with fault management design.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience reviewing software architecture, design, and code.


• Experience developing test scripts and verification analysis reports.


• Experience with System Safety Assessments and reviewing safety artifacts.


• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)


• Experience with Agile methodologies Aerospace Industry experience with safety critical software and/or tools qualification activities


• Experience with NPR 7150.2D


• Experience with compiled languages, C/C++


• Experience with scripting languages, Python/JavaScript

Base Pay Range For

CO applicants is $150,931.00 - $211,303.05 WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80
