Summary
Position Highlights:
- Performs high complexity laboratory testing and related functions in the HLA laboratory to support the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program in determining appropriate donors for transplant patients based on HLA typing. Assists with development, validation, and implementation of new and/or revised procedures and protocols. Performs testing, quality control and corrective action procedures and problem resolution as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Will have an Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science.
- Has ASCP or CHT certification.
- Will have 3-5 years previous HLA experience.
Responsibilities:
- Performs testing on clinical specimens using molecular methods to determine HLA class I and class II antigen types.
- Performs HLA data software analysis in order to accurately classify HLA antigen types.
- Performs nucleic acid extraction procedures and determines specimen quality for HLA testing.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, quality control and quality assurance activities.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science required.
- Florida State Medical Technologist License in Immunohematology or HLA sub-specialty required.
