Job summary

HP Hood is seeking a motivated individual for a forklift operator role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will perform material handling, operate stretch wrap machines and forklifts, and maintain safety and quality in the designated area.

Prepare loads, verify quantities, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to standard operating procedures and training requirements. Equal opportunity employer; visa sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel).
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical abilities.
  • Good record keeping and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Make minor equipment adjustments to optimize line efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and improve processes to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure work orders for process improvements are generated.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Operate forklifts, stretch wrap, and related handling equipment safely.
  • Read load tags, verify skid quantities, and manage pallet movement.
  • Support team with miscellaneous tasks as directed by supervision.

Essential Functions:
  • Make minor adjustments to equipment to optimize the running efficiency of the line.
  • Addresses equipment problems in an aggressive manner, as to minimize downtime.
  • Determine line “bottlenecks” and take action to improve.
  • Ensure work orders are generated for process improvements, and corrective maintenance items.
  • Upholds quality, safety, and cleanliness standards within designated area.
  • Ensures that all required WHS PMs are performed.
  • Communicates with other team members to ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Expected to perform any duties necessary to support the team or assignments by supervisor.
  • Monitor daily reports within system to address any pallet issues
  • Vigilantly monitor equipment operation for indications of impending problems, and possible operational improvements.
  • Operates a stretch wrap, forklift, and battery changer in a safe manner.
  • Utilizing inventory management systems efficiently and accurately.
  • Manifest loads correctly.
  • Housecleaning. Keep floor clean and organized and cleared of trash.
  • Bands and shrink wraps pallet to ensure skid integrity is maintained during transit.
  • Reads the load tag and verifies quantity for skids.
  • Loads and unloads trailers in a safe efficient manner.
  • Operates material handling equipment: stretch wrap machines, Forklift Equipment required, ASRS Systems, Conveyor Systems.
  • Inspects and operates a forklift equipment.
  • Various tasks involving the responsibility of the food safety and quality of company products
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3+ years experience in manufacturing.
  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Excellent Troubleshoot Experience.
  • Solid Mechanical Skills
  • Ability to work well with people or independently
  • Multi-tasked Individual.
  • Excellent driving skills, hand/foot-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Good record keeping / clerical skills
  • Good far-visual differentiation and depth perception
  • Good basic math and reading skills
  • Good oral communication and human relations skills
  • Some experience or training as a forklift operator
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing: Long periods (a minimum of 8+ hours)
  • Sitting: Occasionally or up to a short periods minimum of 5 hours
  • Walking: Constantly
  • Bending: Frequently
  • Ability to climb and work comfortably at high altitude
  • Lifting: Heavy (50+ lbs) frequently
  • Ability to work with arms outstretched to the front
  • Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: under 75 lbs without assistance infrequently
Special Requirements:
  • Fork truck Certification.
  • Cool/Cold Environment
  • Comfortable working at high altitude

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
