As the HIV Peer Navigation Program Coordinator, you will play a key role in advancing the Department of Health's mission by overseeing Washington State’s HIV Peer Navigation Program. This program is vital in helping people living with HIV connect to healthcare and supportive services. Our program is rooted in the field of peer support, an intentional, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and healing-centered practice. Your expertise will foster relationships, enhancing service provider capacity, and contributing to the health and quality of life of those impacted by HIV.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinating the HIV Peer Navigation Program: Serve as the primary contact for statewide HIV Peer Navigation programs. Ensure the sharing of information and updates, support program guidelines, and coordinate training and meetings. Regularly collaborate with partners to improve health literacy and service delivery.
  • Monitoring HIV Peer Navigation Programs: Conduct monthly desk audits and annual site visits to ensure compliance with National Monitoring Standards. Evaluate service quality, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to address any programmatic issues. Support HIV Peer Navigation Programs with technical assistance on our Provide Database and related responsibilities.
  • Supporting DEI and Trauma-Informed Activities: Provide ongoing training and technical support to HIV Peer Navigators and service providers on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and trauma-informed approaches. Track the accessibility of culturally appropriate services for racial and ethnic minority groups.

Location and Flexibility

We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. Attending events or working in the office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.

Required Qualifications

Experience may have been gained concurrently, and through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

Option 1: Three (3) years of experience in a health services program; and (1) year of experience in the following:

  • Providing HIV peer support services.
  • Providing technical assistance in person, by phone, and computer.

Option 2: A bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, health care administration, psychology, social work, or allied field; AND one (1) year of experience in a health services program that includes:

  • Providing HIV peer support services.
  • Providing technical assistance in person, by phone, and computer.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual - Spanish
  • Experience in the following:
    • Using the Washington State Provide Database.
    • Working within the HIV system of care or prevention.
    • Providing or administering HIV care or prevention services at the state or local level.
    • Supporting others apply for medication assistance programs.
    • Providing professional leadership related to access to HIV care issues.
  • Knowledge of:
  1. Ryan White, HRSA, and CDC care and prevention guidelines.
  2. Washington state laws and rules governing HIV care services or prevention.
  3. Mental/behavioral health support and services.
  4. Harm reduction treatment services for substance use.
