Job summary

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Augusta, ME seeks a Public Service Coordinator I to design and implement HIT strategies supporting a value-based health care system for MaineCare Services. You will serve as a project lead or SME on cross‑agency teams, building interfaces, and maintaining relationships across state agencies, vendors, and federal partners.

Qualifications

  • Eight-year combination of education and/or experience in healthcare or health plan operations.
  • Professional degree in public administration, healthcare administration, or public health preferred.
  • Experience with Medicaid or health and human services programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as DHHS' primary liaison to CMS Data & Systems Group for APDs related to MES modules.
  • Work with program, contract management, finance, and technical teams on APD development, maintenance, and reporting.
  • Overseeing the contract for DHHS-funded activities of the statewide Health information Exchange (HIE) and coordinating operations and strategy.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on federal HIT requirements and advising on related regulations for HIE and interoperability.
  • Assessing opportunities to advance interagency collaboration, data sharing, and cost savings to support OMS initiatives.
  • Engaging in contract procurement and management for HIT initiatives, including drafting RFPs and contract language.
  • Participating in educational forums to develop HIT and APD expertise.
