Histotechnologist - Surgical Pathology

This position reports to the lead histotechnologist of the histology laboratory, Division of Surgical Pathology. The individual will possess the theoretical and practical expertise to support the operations of a busy histology laboratory. They may be asked to assist with short-term and long-term strategic operational planning of a high-complexity histology laboratory. The candidate must demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment within a team and provide excellent customer service to the faculty and staff of City of Hope National Cancer Center to improve patient outcomes.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  1. Troubleshoot technical, processing, and staining issues.
  2. Assist in laboratory maintenance for State, CMS, and CAP inspections, including SOP writing and inspection participation.
  3. Develop new laboratory procedures.
  4. Manage laboratory inventory and supplies based on LEAN/Six Sigma principles.
  5. Work within an Electronic LIS.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education/experience.
  • ASCP HT or HTL certification.
