Job summary

Bronson Healthcare in Kalamazoo (BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital) is seeking a Histotechnologist/Histology Technician for the 1st shift (5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) on a full-time basis.

You will prepare histological slides by examining, fixing and processing human tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a Pathologist, using specialized dyes to reveal cellular structures for pathologists to identify abnormal cells.

Qualifications

• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program within 5 years.
• Alternative path requires 60 sem hours in biology/chemistry or an associate degree with biology/chemistry.
• Certification options include ASCP eligibility and registry within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare histological slides by fixing and processing tissue sections.
• Stain samples with specialized dyes to reveal cellular structures.
• Perform testing within trained competencies and document results.
• Maintain quality control and laboratory safety procedures.
• Operate instruments and troubleshoot as needed according to protocol.
• Assist in training laboratory HT/HLT students and new staff.
