Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is hiring a Part-time Histology Technician to perform histological procedures in the Histology and/or Dermatopathology Laboratory. Hours include Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11:00a–7:30p with applicable evening and night shift differentials.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in a relevant science or NAACLS histotechnology training, with preferred HT/HTL certification or a bachelor’s degree and related laboratory experience.

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological science, medical laboratory science or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program or high school diploma or equivalent with two years of clinical histopathology lab experience.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for the performance of various histological procedures, techniques and processes utilized in the Histology and/or Dermatopathology Laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological science, medical laboratory science or equivalent education or
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program or high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of clinical work experience in an accredited histopathology laboratory

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Certification/Certification eligible as HT/HTL (ASCP) or equivalent
• Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, medical laboratory science or equivalent education
