Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Histotechnologist to perform all aspects of histologic slide preparations for diagnosis, including routine and special tests, with rigorous quality control and recordkeeping.

Education options include an associate degree with histopathology experience or an accredited histotechnology program, or a bachelor’s degree with histopathology experience. Certification by ASCP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education requirements per ad: Associate degree with histopathology experience or accredited histotechnology program; or Bachelor's with 1 year histopathology experience.
• Licensure: ASCP HT/HTL certification preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years histopathology in last 5 years or eligible.
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Strong color perception and manual dexterity.
• Good oral, written and interpersonal communication.

Job description

Under general supervision, the Histotechnologist performs all aspects of histologic slide preparations for diagnosis including routine and special tests, maintenance and quality control, and computer functions.Education:Associate’s degree in science with at least two (2) years of full-time experience in histopathology within the last five (5) years ORSuccessful completion of an accredited histotechnology program, registry eligible ORBachelor’s degree with one (1) year of full time experience in histopathology within the last five (5) years.Licensure:Certification as a registered HT or HTL by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) preferred.Experience:Dependent upon level of education acquiredSkills:Knowledge of histologic theory, practices, and standardsSkills in cellular evaluation and interpretationSkill in oral, written and interpersonal communicationSkill in basic computersSkill in basic mathematics, data analysis and problem solvingAbility to operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment.Ability to prioritize work, organize and transfer data accurately.Physical Requirement:Requires manual dexterity, good visual acuity, including color perceptionAble to stand or sit for long periods of timeSome heavy lifting up to 30 poundsPay Range$27.32 - $44.80Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.Equal Employment OpportunityGBMC HealthCare and its affiliates are Equal Opportunity employers.
