Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic analysis. You will process, embed, and section tissues, maintain a control library, and perform routine staining while adhering to safety and quality protocols.

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required; ASCP credentials are preferred. The role is onsite in Boston, supporting patient care in a busy laboratory environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Must possess fundamental knowledge of basic histotechnique to include fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and routine staining.
  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Clinical or histology experience 0-1 year required.

Responsibilities

  • Processes, embeds, and sections tissue for slides.
  • Embeds control tissue and cuts control slides to maintain a control library.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, including oiling and cleaning microtomes, cleaning processors, and changing staining solutions.
  • Observes hospital and laboratory policies and safety practices and maintains a safe, clean, and prepared work area.
