University of Michigan's Michigan Medicine seeks a Histotechnologist to support Surgical Pathology, tissue processing, staining and microtomy in a high-volume academic lab. This role contributes to accurate diagnoses and patient care, handling quality control and documentation with integrity.
You will work in an evening shift, maintain equipment, and train new hires while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with CLIA/CAP standards.

Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other related science field or an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
Be competent in one of the following specialties:
Knowledge of relevant aspects of Surgical Pathology (grossing if CLIA qualified).
Histology laboratory experience is required.
Professional and collegial communication skills to work closely with peers in an academic teamwork environment.
HT (ASCP) or HTL certification preferred and an equivalent combination of clinical histology experience of all relevant aspects of Surgical Pathology (grossing if CLIA qualified).

This full time, 40 hour position is on the evening shift M-F and may participate in rotating weekends, holidays and on-call.
Works with infectious disease and/or hazardous materials.
May have exposure to noise from laboratory equipment.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
