University of Vermont Health Network's UVMMC - Medical Center - Main Campus in Burlington, VT, seeks a Sr. Histotechnologist on a per diem basis. Responsibilities include routine and stat tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, mounting, staining and labeling.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a science field with HTL certification; immunohistochemistry (QIHC) is preferred but not required. Candidates should have about three years of histology experience.

Responsibilities

• Guide Histotechnicians and support staff as a resource person.
• Recognize and troubleshoot procedural, instrument, and quality control problems and notify supervisors.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Responsible for accurate routine and stat tissue processing, including embedment, microtomy, mounting, staining and labeling. Performs routine and special histology processing including advanced histochemical and immunohistochemical testing. Offers guidance to Histotechnicians, Histotechnologists, and support staff in routine technical areas and serves as a resource person. Recognizes and troubleshoots procedural, instrument, and quality control problems and notifies Charge Histotechnologist, R&D Tech or Supervisor. Follows guidelines to correct problems or errors.

EDUCATION:

The Sr. Histotechnologist is required to have their bachelor’s degree in an appropriate science field along with their HTL certification. Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) is preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

Three years in a Histology Laboratory similar to UVM Medical Center
