Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Histotechnician to join our team at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. The 3rd shift offers two options: 5 X 8 or 4 x 10 schedules, starting at 3 am. You will prepare tissue specimens, produce slides, and perform immunohistochemical tests for accurate patient care.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in science and 1+ year of histotechnician experience; ASCP certification is preferred. Benefits and sign-on bonus are available for external applicants.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• 1+ year of experience as a Histotechnician.
• ASCP histology certification preferred.
• Experience in a high-volume hospital laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Produce histopathology slides from surgical specimens.
• Section embedded tissue with a microtome and mount on slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on tissue sections.
• Process sections through routine and special staining procedures.
• Orient and embed surgical tissue specimens correctly.
• Prepare stains and reagents for procedures.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments.
• Document equipment maintenance and log data accurately.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
