Job description

Fredericksburg Academy, the leading independent school in the Fredericksburg region, is seeking a full-time Upper School History Teacher and Student Activities Coordinator beginning in August of 2025. Candidates should have a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential as students and citizens, a demonstrated desire for professional growth and a willingness to participate fully in the life of the school. Fredericksburg Academy provides students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for and apply to college in a demanding yet supportive environment while becoming independent learners within ourchallenging college-prep curriculum. The history portion covers US History and AP US History for grade 11. The coordinator portion covers assisting the Head of Upper School and Upper School faculty with student behavior and activities. Fredericksburg Academy students bring a laptop or tablet to school each day, so technological proficiency and demonstrated use of technology within the learning environment is preferred. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor to approximately 8 to 10 students and supporting co-curricular activities, preferably through coachingone of our athletic teams at the MS or Varsity level or advising other student-led clubs. After school coaching and after school enrichment programming receive additional stipends.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education or similar area of study
  • Demonstrated successful classroom teaching or similar field of work
