Job Information
History Teacher- High School for Chicago, IL location. Develop and execute engaging lesson plans. Create an environment that allows students to think critically and independently, including using the Harkness method. Teach with an emphasis on primary sources such as historical archives. Develop analytical research paper skills and guide student research projects using JSTOR, EBSCO, and World Newspaper Archive. Adapt classroom instruction to various learning styles. The courses taught by the High School History Department include African-American, American, Early World, European, Modern World, and World History, South, East Asian, and Southeast Asian History as well as other electives. Collaborate and teach across departments and divisions.
Additional Responsibilities
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in History or a related field plus three years of experience in teaching required.
Required skills: 3 years of high school or college teaching experience. Experience must include: teaching South Asian, East Asian, and Southeast Asian History at High School or college level; guiding student research projects using JSTOR, EBSCO, and World Newspaper Archive; using Harkness Method in the history classroom; and working in historical archives. Background check with review of conviction history required. $70,323/yr-$156,320/yr.
