Job summary

Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) seeks a Historic Tax Incentive Coordinator to oversee federal and state historic tax credit programs. You will review applications, provide technical guidance, and communicate with National Park Service staff to ensure program consistency.

Travel across the state to project sites, collaborate with developers, local governments, and small businesses, and contribute to educational materials that advance Nebraska’s preservation goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or related field (preferred).
  • 2–5 years’ experience with technical building program elements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with applicants and architects/consultants to complete tax incentive applications.
  • Review and process applications for federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits.
  • Review plans to ensure compliance with Secretary of the Interior’s Standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and training on building rehabilitation.
  • Manage tax credit files and related information.
  • Support statewide preservation planning and outreach activities.
