Job summary

South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism seeks a Park Manager for Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site. You will manage and interpret the historic collection, plan programs, and supervise staff and volunteers to provide a safe, engaging visitor experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, public history, cultural heritage, or related fields.
• Experience in museums or historic sites and knowledge of collections management is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; strong research and interpretive skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, manage, care for, protect, research, and interpret Redcliffe Plantation’s collection and cultural resources.
• Assume Park Manager duties in absence of higher level staff.
• Perform housekeeping and conservation tasks for the historic house museum and collection.
• Promote awareness of Redcliffe’s collection to internal and external audiences; prepare articles and exhibits.
