Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program required or, in lieu of degree, one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required.
• ASCP certification as Histotechnologist/Histotechnician or equivalent required; GA DCH rules apply.
• Recently moved to Georgia or completed requirements may be temporarily classified for eighteen months to complete exam within 1.5 years.

Responsibilities

• Cut, stain, and prepare tissue samples for pathologist review.
• Prioritize testing procedures and complete procedures accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate records of all tests in accordance with policies and regulations.

Education

HS Diploma or GED

Histology program completion

1 year technical experience in surgical pathology lab (required if no degree)

3 years surgical pathology experience (preferred)

ASCP HT certification

Temporary licensure pathway (18 months) for GA
