Job summary

Sonic Healthcare USA in Salem, Oregon is hiring a histology technician to embed, cut, and prepare slides using routine H&E, immunohistochemical and special staining procedures. You will perform scheduled instrument maintenance and troubleshoot processing, embedding, cutting and staining in a fast-paced lab with safety and quality controls.

Requirements include 6 months histology experience; HT/HTL certification or equivalent may be accepted.

Qualifications

• 6 months of histology laboratory experience (embedding, cutting, etc.)
• HT/HTL certification or graduation from a school of Histotechnology may be accepted in lieu of experience
• Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

Location: Salem, Oregon Hours: 4:30 am to 1:00 pm Days: Monday - Friday; rotating paid on-call for Friday evenings/Saturday mornings. Full Time: Benefit Eligible

In this role, you will:

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process through embedding, cutting via microtome, and preparing slides with routine H&E, immunohistochemical and special staining procedures.
• Perform and document scheduled instrument maintenance.
• Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, staining.
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

All you need is:

• 6 months of histology laboratory experience* (embedding, cutting, etc.) *HT/HTL certification or graduation from a school of Histotechnology may be accepted in lieu of experience requirement.
• Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely operate general laboratory equipment.

Bonus points if you’ve got:

• ASCP HT/HTL certification or a graduate from a school of Histotechnology accredited by CAHEA/NAACLS.
• Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience.
