Job summary

HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a hospital-based Histology Technologist to support our pathology services. You will analyze testing samples, embed tissue and section paraffin blocks, perform routine H&E stains, and handle on-site special stains in a high-volume setting with travel to Broward and Dade County (mileage covered).

This role requires an Associate or Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, Florida licensure or eligibility, and limited experience in histology

Qualifications

• A 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is beneficial
• State of Florida Technologist License OR eligibility to obtain
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years preferred

• Embed tissue specimens and section paraffin blocks
• Prepare H&E stains and on-site special stains
• Enter correct case numbers and clinical data in the system

Job Summary And Qualifications
Seeking ahospital-basedHistologyTechnologist Ito provideexpertiseand champion results. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels the patient experience is as meaningful as we do.
You Will:

• Analyze testing samples according to instructions and perform quality control procedures per protocol
• Embed tissue specimens in correct orientation at a rate of 45 - 60 seconds per block
• Section paraffin blocks at an average rate of 35 - 40 blocks per hour
• Produce sections of correct thickness with a minimum of cutting artifacts
• Perform routine H & E stain performed according to Department procedure
• Recognize inferior staining prior tosubmittingand corrects the problem to meet standards
• Perform any on-site special stains andhisto-chemical methods
• Prepare smears, cell blocks, andCytospinpreparations
• Ensure correct Cytology and Pathology numbers are entered in the computer under the right prefix, as well as ALL clinical data provided
  

You Should Have:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technologyis beneficial
• A State of Florida Technologist License OR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in ahigh-volume histology setting is preferred
