HCA Florida Healthcare is seeking a hospital-based Histology Technologist to provide tissue processing, staining, and data management. You will join a large network with automated core labs and a focus on quality patient diagnostics.

The role requires an Associate degree in science (or higher) and histology experience; Florida licensure orlicensure attainable during interview is preferred. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in science required.
• Bachelor's in Medical Technology beneficial.
• State Florida Technologist license or ability to obtain during interview.
• Less than one year in Histology; 1–3 years in high-volume histology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze testing samples per protocol and perform QC.
• Embed tissue specimens in correct orientation.
• Section paraffin blocks at high speed.
• Produce sections with minimal cutting artifacts.
• Perform routine H&E staining per procedure.
• Recognize and correct staining issues to meet standards.
• Perform on-site special stains and histochemical methods.
• Prepare smears, cell blocks, and Cytospin preparations.
• Enter Cytology/Pathology numbers and clinical data accurately.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking a hospital-based Histology Technologist Ito provide expertise and champion results. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels the patient experience is as meaningful as we do.

You Will:

• Analyze testing samples according to instructions and perform quality control procedures per protocol
• Embed tissue specimens in correct orientation at a rate of 45 - 60 seconds per block
• Section paraffin blocks at an average rate of 35 - 40 blocks per hour
• Produce sections of correct thickness with a minimum of cutting artifacts
• Perform routine H & E stain performed according to Department procedure
• Recognize inferior staining prior to submitting and corrects the problem to meet standards
• Perform any on-site special stains and histo-chemical methods
• Prepare smears, cell blocks, and Cytospin preparations
• Ensure correct Cytology and Pathology numbers are entered in the computer under the right prefix, as well as ALL clinical data provided

You Should Have:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is beneficial
• A State of Florida Technologist License OR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in ahigh-volume histology setting is preferred
