Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Fort Walton Beach, FL is seeking a Histology Technologist to join a dedicated team. The role includes embedding, sectioning, staining, and preparing cytology specimens while ensuring accurate data entry and quality control.

Florida licensure or licensure in process is required or obtainable during interview. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in a high-volume histology setting and an associate degree in science; a Bachelors in Medical Technology is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science required.
• 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is beneficial.
• State of Florida Technologist License OR ability to obtain during interview.
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years in high-volume histology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze testing samples according to instructions and perform quality control procedures per protocol.
• Embed tissue specimens in correct orientation at a rate of 45 - 60 seconds per block.
• Section paraffin blocks at an average rate of 35 - 40 blocks per hour.
• Produce sections of correct thickness with minimum cutting artifacts.
• Perform routine H&E stain per department procedure.
• Recognize inferior staining and corrects to meet standards.
• Perform on-site special stains and histo-chemical methods.
• Prepare smears, cell blocks, and Cytospin preparations.
• Ensure correct Cytology and Pathology numbers with proper data entry in the system.

• Ensure correct Cytology and Pathology numbers are entered in the computer under the right prefix, as well as ALL clinical data provided

What Qualifications you will need:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technologyis beneficial
• A State of Florida Technologist License OR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in ahigh-volumehistology setting is preferred
