Parkland Health is seeking a Histotechnician to receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination. You will verify labeling, document results, and maintain equipment to meet PHHS guidelines.

The role requires completion of a NAACLS Histotechnician program or an associated degree with biology/chemistry coursework; one year of histopathology experience is preferred and HT (ASCP) certification is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a NAACLS Histotechnician program.
• OR an Associate’s degree.
• OR at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.
• One year experience in histopathology preferred.
• Histotechnician - HT (ASCP) preferred

Responsabilités

• Receive specimens, assess specimen integrity, verify labeling and documentation, and verification of orders to ensure patients are billed correctly.
• Prepare routine gross tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologist, including surgical, autopsy, research and outside cases.
• Processing, embedding, cutting, staining and cover slipping to ensure results meet accreditation requirements.
• Prepare solutions and stains ensuring preparation meets procedural specifications.
• Maintain laboratory records and logs to reflect procedures performed and comply with laboratory standards.
• Serve as a resource to Parkland Health System personnel and maintain positive working relationships with management and staff.
• Stay abreast of developments in Anatomic Pathology by attending seminars and maintaining certification as a Histology Technician.
