• One year internship in a histology program or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains positive specimen ID from OR to Lab through transport, order entry, gross dissection, microtomy, embedding, staining, report generation, block and slide filing processes.
• Prepares slides for pathologist review and interpretation within departmental timelines; expedites gross dissection and transcription of pathology interpretations.
• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs histology equipment per specifications.
• Reviews, updates and documents QC/QA, PM and repair records to ensure accreditation compliance.
• Prepares timely reagent and supply orders; coordinates repairs and staffing coverage.
• Manages specimen storage area and waste disposal per procedures; keeps work areas clean.
• Demonstrates proactive teamwork to complete patient workload efficiently.
