Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a Histology Technician to join our Everett, Washington site. You will prepare tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation, identify orientation for embedding, and perform tissue processing and microtomy for routine samples.

You will also prepare stains, conduct quality control, and maintain a clean lab environment under GLP guidelines. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least 4 years of related experience, plus proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook

• Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Maintain GLP and ensure a safe, clean lab environment.
• Perform trimming of fixed tissues and paraffin embedding as required.
• Conduct tissue processing and microtomy for routine histology.
• Prepare stains/reagents and perform H&E staining and coverslipping.
• Prepare non-routine histochemical stains as required by protocols.
• Implement quality control on prepared slides and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Assist with SOP revisions and data entry for inventory and records.

## Histology TechnicianApply: On-site: Everett, Washington: Full time: Posted Yesterday: R103019**About The Role**As a Histology Technician you are responsible for, but not limited to: the preparation of quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation; identification of tissue samples for proper embedding orientation; tissue processing; microtomy skills for routine tissue samples; preparation of reagents and the performance of routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), non-routine histochemical staining procedures; performs quality control procedures on all prepared microscope slides; knowledge of the use and maintenance of equipment used for the preparation of tissue samples and the ability to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment; specimen inventory and archival of study materials, depending on site.**What You'll Do Here*** Maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)* Maintain and document the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and a safe, clean and orderly laboratory environment.* Perform trimming of fixed tissues, and paraffin tissue processing procedures.* Identify required tissue sample orientation and perform paraffin embedding procedures.* Use microtomy skills in the preparation of routine microscopic slides according to standard operating procedures and/or required by study protocols.* Prepare stains/reagents according to standard operating procedure and protocol requirements.* Perform routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining as well as cover slipping microscopic slides.* Prepare reagents/stains and performs non-routine histochemical staining procedures to emphasize particular tissue elements and analyses tissue samples used as positive/negative controls.* Perform quality control procedures on all prepared microscope slides.* Troubleshoot equipment and/or operation failures and takes appropriate actions to keep interruptions to a minimum.* Analyzes raw data collection and solves for deviation in standard operating procedures (SOP) and/or protocol requirements.* Assist with revision of standard operating procedures if needed.* Contribute to innovative process development and quality improvement.* Ordering of warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records.* Disposition of hazardous chemical, generation of the hazardous chemical lab pack and data entry to the laboratory hazardous chemical records.**What You'll Need to Succeed*** High School Diploma and/or GED required* Minimum of 4 years of related experience* Technical Skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point**Work Authorization & Sponsorship**Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
