Job summary

Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Histotechnician to join the Pathology department. You will prepare and process tissues, perform sectioning and staining, and help maintain equipment while supporting a busy pediatric lab.

Certification as HT by ASCP or equivalent is required, with an associate degree or higher. Prior healthcare experience is preferred, and you will work independently and with a team in a multidisciplinary setting.

Department Overview

The Pathology department provides clinical and anatomical pathology services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serves as a reference laboratory for routine and complex tests. Staff are specially trained in pediatric blood collection, age-specific techniques, and coping strategies to improve the patient and family experience.

Position Summary

Accountable for daily histology technician duties, including preparation and processing of tissues. The work includes limited specimen gross, accessioning of all tissue types, histological processing, sectioning and staining. Other histology duties include but are not limited to, maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, participation in evaluation of new techniques and methodology, revision and updating of techniques as needed.

Certified as a Histotechnician (HT) by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent professional organization. New HT graduates have the first twelve months of employment to obtain their HT certification. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification if applicable.

Experience

• Previous experience in a health care setting.
• Previous experience as a histotechnician preferred.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
