Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Histology Technician to receive, process, and prepare patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination by our pathologists. Responsibilities include logging, batching, cutting, mounting, and staining procedures in a clinical setting.

The role requires a Science Degree and prior medical office experience, with strong attention to HIPAA compliance and EMR familiarity. You will work with MOHS surgeons and clinical staff to ensure accurate specimen handling

Qualifications

• Science Degree required or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a medical office.
• Ability to learn related center tasks and assist management and physicians.
• Self-motivated to achieve high patient care and customer service standards.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
• Familiarity with ModMed EMA EMR (preferred).
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
• Team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform histology technical procedures to produce quality slides for review by pathologists.
• Provide skilled surgical and medical support to MOHS surgeons with patient care and safety.
• Prepare patient charts, forms and instruments needed for surgery.
• Prepare histological samples, map, and flatten, freeze section samples, staining.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain housekeeping and stock room supplies.
• Organize, file and dispose of specimens within regulatory guidelines.
• Participate in external and internal proficiency testing.

Summary

The Histology Technician will perform the various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. This may include logging, batching, and cutting, mounting, and staining procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform Histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to achieve quality pathology slides for review by pathologist
• Providing skilled surgical and medical support to MOHS surgeon with patients’ care and safety.
• Prepare patients’ charts, forms and instruments and equipment needed for surgery
• Prepare histological samples, map, and flatten, frozen section samples, staining
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA and HIPPA regulations
• Perform routine housekeeping duties, keep room and lab stocked with supplies
• Organize, file and dispose of all specimens within regulation.
• Participate in external and internal proficiency testing
