Job summary

Virtua Health seeks a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist for full-time days in Voorhees, NJ. The role processes surgical and autopsy specimens, prepares slides for diagnosis, and performs immunohistochemistry with attention to quality standards.

Responsibilities include embedding, sectioning, staining, and processing specimens while documenting QC results. Requires HT (ASCP) or eligible, and a BS/AS with biology and chemistry coursework.

Qualifications

• 1 year of full-time histology experience in an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.
• Graduation from an approved Histotechnology Program or HT (ASCP) certification or registry eligible.
• BS/AS with biology and chemistry coursework or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Embed tissue samples in paraffin and identify tissue type and components.
• Section tissue into ultra-thin slices; adjust technique by tissue.
• Perform routine, special and Immunohistochemical staining procedures; relate requests to test results.
• Prepare tissue specimens for processing; choose protocols based on physician orders and correlate tests to disease processes.
• Document quality control and take corrective action as needed.
