Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Histology Tech, PRN for our Columbus, GA location. The role involves preparing tissue samples for pathologist review, staining, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with policies.

Qualified candidates include recent histology program graduates or those with at least one year of surgical pathology lab experience. ASCP certification is required or can be pursued per GA guidelines.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program is required or
• One year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory is required (or)
• Three years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred.
• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification is required or eligible according to GA regs.
• Temporary licensure option for eighteen (18) months to complete qualifying exam within 1-1/2 years.

Responsibilities

• Cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for pathology review.
• Prioritize testing procedures and complete them accurately and timely.
• Maintain proper records of all tests in accordance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
