Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital in Georgia seeks a Day Shift Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (6am-2:30pm) with rotating weekends. You will cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for pathologist review, prioritize testing procedures and keep meticulous records in line with policy.

Education: HS diploma or GED. ASCP HT certification is required on hire; a provisional path may exist for new GA entrants to complete the qualifying exam within 18 months.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• ASCP HT Histotechnologist certification required at hire.
• Temporary licensure arrangement may be allowed for Georgia entrants to complete qualifying exam within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist prepares tissue samples by cutting, staining and processing for pathologist review.
• Maintains accurate records of all tests and priorities procedures per established policies.

Responsibilities

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
