Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Histology Supervisor to oversee the Histology Department at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, MD. Shift 3, Mon-Fri, 12:00am–8:30am; schedule may vary based on needs.

Requires an Associate degree in a chemical/biological science and 6+ years as Histotechnologist. ASCP/AMT certification preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 6+ years of experience as Histotechnician/Histotechnologist.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the Histology Department.
• Ensure tests are accurately performed and results reported timely.
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel.
• Monitor workflow and schedule adequate assay coverage.
• Staff department shifts and address production issues.
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements.
• Maintain QA records and comply with regulations.
• Manage payroll and personnel files as needed.

LabCorp is seeking a Histology Supervisor to join our team at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, MD.

Work Schedule: Shift 3, Monday-Friday, 12:00am to 8:30am; Hours may vary based on departmental needs

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise the day to day operations of the Histology Department
• Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
• Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
• Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
• Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
• Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
• Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
• Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
• Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
• Process and maintain payroll and personnel files, and administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 6 years or more of experience as a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1 years or more of experience supervising or leading a team
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position

**Salary Range: – $90,000 - $110,000 per year All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

• Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
• Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
