Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Histology Lab Assistant to support the Histology Supervisor in daily lab and clerical duties. You will coordinate surgical case paperwork and slides, manage orders, and ensure proper handling of slides and blocks.

The role requires familiarity with lab safety procedures and compliance with privacy and security policies to protect sensitive information. Prior health care experience is preferred.

• Perform lab cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and re-stock supplies as needed.
• Answer departmental phone.
• Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate surgical case paperwork and slides for delivery to pathologists.
• Manage SSR orders.
• Remove slides from stainers.
• Retrieve needed slides and blocks from files.
• Package slides and blocks for return to outside facilities.
• File blocks and slides.
• Print needed slide labels.
• Perform lab cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and re-stock supplies as needed.
• Answer departmental phone
• Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
• Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is required.
