Job summary

The Complex Specimen Processor- Histology role at HCA Healthcare in Nashville, TN, is responsible for managing inbound/outbound microbiology, histology, and cytology samples, including accessioning, processing, and preparation for referral labs. You will ensure proper labeling, testing requirements, and turnaround times in a regulated clinical setting.

The position requires familiarity with specimen handling, test orders, and documentation; prior lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Less than a High School Diploma/GED required.
• Vocational/Technical Degree preferred.
• Less than 1 year of experience required.
• 1-3 years in a market or commercial clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track samples from receipt through accessioning and processing, ensuring proper labeling and testing order entry.
• Prepare specimens for courier pickup and referral laboratory submission according to testing requirements.
• Maintain records of specimen problems and corrective actions to ensure accuracy of testing.
• Perform periodic preventive maintenance and quality assurance procedures as assigned.
• Handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with safety protocols as applicable.
