Job summary

Summit Pathology is seeking a dedicated Histology Lab Assistant to support a fast-paced clinical laboratory. The role involves clerical and technical duties to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient distribution of pathology slides.

You will perform morning slide turn out, route slides for pathologists, and complete IHC and special stains. The position requires basic biology and medical terminology knowledge, familiarity with lab safety, and willingness to learn embedding, microtomy, and other

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• One year in a medical laboratory preferred.
• Knowledge of handling chemical and biohazardous material.
• Basic knowledge of biology and medical terminology.
• Involves safety and continuing education expectations.

Responsibilities

• Perform morning slide turn out and route slides for pathologists.
• QC check of block to slide before turn out.
• Completion and turn out of IHC and special stains.
• Answer histology phones and troubleshoot calls.
• Accessioning tech only cases.
• Digital pathology scanning and distribution.
• Ultra reagent maintenance.
• File blocks and unstained slides daily.
• Dispose of recycle materials and trash properly.
• Assist pathologists and histologists.
• Learn embedding, microtomy, and special stains.
• Collaborate with team to meet department goals and safety requirements.
