Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Brookfield, WI, is seeking a Lab Assistant I - Histology to support basic histopathology sample preparation. The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 3:30 PM, with starting pay of $17.20 per hour. Responsibilities include slide preparation, tissue labeling, accessioning, inventory management, and maintaining a clean lab area.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate the ability to follow a series of steps without confusion or errors.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with supervisors, co-workers and clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
• Ability to type 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine activities involved in the preparation of histopathology slides under supervision.
• Receive/collect, label and prepare tissue specimens for gross dissection.
• Process paperwork for accessioning and reporting.
• Monitor inventory and requisition supplies before depletion.
• Clean, sterilize, organize and maintain work area and equipment.
• Perform coverslipping of stained slides manually and automatically.
• Handle assigned clerical duties and comply with safety policies.
