Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Histology Specialist to lead immunohistochemistry, ISH, and special staining in the Anatomic Pathology lab at Toledo North. The role covers instrument operation, slide prep, quality control, and LIS/IT interfaces, with responsibilities as a HTL III.

A bachelor’s degree with biology/chemistry hours and ASCP HTL certification are required. The position offers 40 hours per week in afternoons, full-time status, and a $20,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both).
• Knowledge of IHC, Special Staining, ISH and related skills.
• 5 years of Histology Laboratory experience, including IHC and special staining.
• ASCP certification as an HTL.

Responsibilities

• Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC), histochemistry, in-situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence testing.
• Manage assigned instruments, slide preparation, quality control, and LIS/IT interfaces.
• Serve as a system-wide resource with advanced technical knowledge; fulfill role as HTL III.
• Maintain competency with platform protocols and ensure assay accuracy and reliability.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for Laboratory immunohistochemistry (IHC) and histochemistry (special stain), in-situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence testing platforms, including assigned instruments, slide preparation, quality control, and Lab Information Systems (LIS/IT) interfaces. Serves as a system wide resource with advanced technical knowledge and skills. Performs routine and complex analytical procedures in these areas; fulfills role as HTL III.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) which must be obtained within or in addition to the baccalaureate degree.
• Knowledge of IHC, Special Staining, ISH and related skills.
• 5 years of Histology Laboratory experience, including IHC and special staining.
• ASCP certification as an HTL.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Subject matter expertise in IHC and special staining testing platforms.
• Leadership experience.
