Job summary

BayCare Health System in Winter Haven is seeking a Histologist to prepare and process tissue specimens from fixation to final slide, ensuring accuracy to support patient diagnosis. You’ll help maintain lab compliance and equipment while working independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Histology Technician or Histology Technologist Florida License is required.
• ASCP certification is preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical degree in Histotechnology or an related Associate’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process tissue from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques.
• Maintain required files, records, and documentation for compliance.
• Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Stock and manage laboratory supplies.
• Use medical terminology and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Role Overview

As a Histologist , you’ll prepare and process tissue specimens from fixation to final slide preparation, ensuring accuracy and quality in support of patient diagnosis. You’ll also help maintain lab compliance and equipment while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Process tissue from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques

• Maintain required files, records, and documentation for compliance

• Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments

• Stock and manage laboratory supplies

• Use medical terminology and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills

• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

? Certification & Licensure

• Required: Histology Technician or Histology Technologist Florida License

• Preferred: ASCP certification

? Education

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent

• Preferred: Technical degree in Histotechnology or Associate’s in a related field

? Experience

• Preferred: 1 year of laboratory experience
