Job summary

Penn Medicine, including the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory (Full Time, Night Shift).

The role focuses on high complexity testing, molecular typing (NGS/SSO/RT-PCR) and flow cytometry crossmatching to support multi-organ and stem cell transplant programs. A Bachelor’s degree in a biological science is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a biological science or related field required.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience or HLA Lab experience preferred.
• Computer skills including databases, Excel, and programming preferred.
• CHT or CHS certification from ABHI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity testing and data analysis including microarray antibody screening, molecular typing (NGS, SSO, RT-PCR) and flow cytometry crossmatching.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, test validation and implementation.
• Rotational on-call coverage for STAT testing and donor workups.
