Responsibilities

• Knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable.
• Use and maintenance of histology equipment.
• Maintenance of manuals, logs and files for the department.
• Other tasks may be assigned by the department manager/director.

Responsibilities

• Unlicensed personnel require direct and constant supervision by the Laboratory Director or licensed designee (Business and Professions Code 1269).
• 1) preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures,
• 2) must be versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples,
• 3) the performance of routine and special staining procedures,
• 4) knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties,
• 5) use and maintenance of histology equipment,
• 6) maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department.
• 7) other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director..

• 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• 2. Minimum 1 year experience as a Histotechnician (Non-Certified) required
