Job summary

Saint Clare's Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant to join our award-winning team in Dover, New Jersey. In this role, you will perform key duties such as clerical tasks, telephone communication, and processing laboratory specimens under supervision.

Ideal candidates should have an HS Diploma or equivalent, state certification as CPT I or II, and a current BCLS certificate. We offer competitive pay rates ranging from $15.92 to $21.00 per hour, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Certification and BCLS maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform computer entry, filing, and other clerical tasks.

Overview

Our facilities include Denville Hospital, Dover Hospital, behavioral health centers, and an imaging center.

Responsibilities

The Laboratory Assistant will follow CLIA, CA Business and Professions Codes, and will work under direct supervision of a licensed laboratory professional. Key duties include:

  • Computer entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical tasks.
  • Providing courteous telephone service and greeting patients and visitors.
  • Maintaining knowledge of laboratory test terminology and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Processing specimens in pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank services.
  • Processing specimens for reference laboratories.
  • Stocking and ordering routine supplies; keeping storage areas clean.
  • Placing specimens on laboratory instruments according to established policies.
  • Assisting with instrument preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control procedures when properly trained.
  • Performing primary culture inoculations, stain slide preparations, and subculturing from liquid media.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the department manager or director, such as monitoring, mailing, faxing, and inter‑departmental deliveries.
  • Assisting in pathology training and evaluation.
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • State certification as CPT I or CPT II required where applicable.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire; maintenance preferred.
